Action

“Do or do not… there is no try.” This from 1 of the Star Wars films and is spoken to Luke by Yoda.

There is a quote from a Zen masters that says the same thing. Basically that quote is that a man cannot be successful when he tries but if he chooses to act can he succeed

I have covered this subject more than once and will probably cover it many time more.

If you act you get a result. Now this result not be what you are looking for but it will tell you if you are on the right track. The most painful words that I tell myself this days is I shoulda or if I woulda. I have missed many opportunities because I let my fears stop me when I was younger.

By acting,by just changing 1 thing in your life you change your future. It might be only a small change but if you stack 1 small change on top of another your life changes. So take the action.

If you have not seen it please go to my video section and watch the Micheal Jordan video again. This is how you succeed. By taking that shot he gave his team a chance to win. Many people fail to take that shot for themselves and they are stuck on the side lines. So please take those actions that you have written.

What is the best self help information.

On the web and in book stores there is a ton of self help information. Some of it true some of it less than truth. Some authors will tell you just be positive and everything will work out. Others will tell you just visualize and your dreams will come true. Both may work for some people others are looking for more details than this and in that regard this article will fail.

Ok what does work. There a million methods because  each works for some but not all. If you are looking to change your life you need to sift through the mess of information and look for stuff that works for you.

There are some common denominators. Lets me list them.

1. Get Clear about what you want. If you only have a vague idea what you are looking to achieve you will run into problems in motivating your self or even deciding what the first action you will take.. So its important that you be clear and set a date. Saying someday I will go to Europe leads you to say Darn Someday never came. So be specific and have a time frame.

2. Your goals should stretch you. It tough to get excited  about to make enough money to pay your bills ,though in this day and age sometime that what you shoot for. It would be better to make the goal to have enough money coming into my life where I don’t have to work for someone else to pay my bills.

3. Lastly shoot for daily actions that will move you closer to your goals. It’s no good if you say well if this would change I could. You need to take daily action toward your goals and then be honest are you closer or further from your goals.

I hope this self help information helps you move closer to the life you want.

Is Action the Secret

OK you are reading the blog or you bought a book. Maybe you are planning a New Years resolution. Nothing is going to change intil you take the first step. You could have the greatest plan or business idea, but nothing will change intil you decide to take action.

Many people say the self-help is bunk and think it is a bunch of people who sit and talk about a Positive Mental Attitude.  Being positive is not required  some days all I am positive of is when I go outside a heavy object will land on my head.

But what is required is for us to get off our butts and take action. But if action is what it takes to move our life forward why don’t more people do it. I think there 3 things that hold people back.

1. Fear This one takes many forms. Fear of failure is very common. People do not want to risk money time and energy and to have nothing to show for it.  But if you try somethings and it does not work you have an educational experience. You learned that whjat you tried did not work, but I am willing to bet you are closer than you were. Life is not a straight line. You will zig zag and many times be going lateral.

2.Comfort Zone. We are caught in our comfort zone and really we change. We are comfortable but if so why are you reading this and other self help material. You are looking to change something in your life.

3.Inertia. Its tough and takes so much energy to start we are like the rocket on the launching pad and its takes a ton of energy  to get started. But conversly once started it take less energy to keep going. The fuel to launch your self to the next level is action.

So decide what you are going to change break it down to small parts and take action today.
